About

Our team of highly trained professionals work together to support and educate both the early childhood workforce and families with children prenatal to 5. We offer curriculum and training at low or no cost to these audiences as well as quality contract training for organizations. Our trainings are always relevant, culturally responsive, empowering, and fun.

Marisol Trevizo
Trainer and Translator

Marisol has lived in Santa Fe, NM for over half her life. She loves Santa Fe because it is a beautiful city full of art and diversity. She has been married to her wonderful husband for many years and she has an amazing son who is now in pre-school.

She has worked as a home visitor since 2020, when she completed her Community Health Worker/Home Visiting Certification through Santa Fe Community College. A few things that she loves are meeting new people, exploring new places, and living in a state of gratefulness. She has been working as a home visitor for over a year and it has been a great life experience. She has enjoyed working with families from different backgrounds and seeing little ones grow. She hopes she can keep helping and supporting families for many years to come.

Mireya Schumaker
Trainer and Program Support

Mireya has lived in Santa Fe since she was 9 years old. She earned a bachelor’s degree in German Language and Literature from UNM. During college, she began babysitting and was a nanny for multiple families after college.

She worked as a First Born home visitor in Santa Fe for four years. She is passionate about boundaries and supporting staff to stay inspired and enjoy their role as a home visitor.

Andrea Slatopolsky, LMSW, IMH-E™
Trainer and Program Support

Andrea is a social worker in Santa Fe and has worked in non-profits for close to 30 years. She has 5 years of experience in home visiting, starting with her role as Program Manager for the First Born program in Santa Fe and then moving to the model office at Santa Fe Community College.

Andrea is bilingual/bicultural and is proud to have raised 2 fine young men with her husband. She wishes home visiting had been available when her boys were born!

Molly McBranch
Trainer and Program Support

Molly McBranch joined the First Born Model Office at the Santa Fe Community College Early Childhood Center of Excellence in 2018. Molly brings a background in early childhood education, including program growth and leadership in home visiting, child development…

and family engagement, to help provide statewide support to First Born programs. Together with the First Born team, she develops curriculum, training sessions, and oversees program fidelity. By collaborating with First Born programs, the highest level of quality and home visiting effectiveness is provided for infants, toddlers, and their families.

Previously, Molly founded the First Born Program of Los Alamos in 2014 where she hired and trained home visiting staff and grew the program to meet state and private funding requirements.

The road to First Born led from her previous experience working in a youth DUI intervention program, New Mexico Department of Health childhood immunization initiative, and California birth defects program.

Molly has a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Whitman College.

She is most proud of her long career of commitment and support in promoting healthy relationships in families, with a spirit of curiosity and inclusion.

Maia Larsgaard, M.Ed.
IIFP Training Manager

Maia has over 30 years of experience working with young children and parents. She has a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Licensure in Parent Education, and is a Certified Parent Coach. She has also studied trauma-informed care, nervous system repair, and reflective listening.

Maia is a recent transplant from Minnesota to New Mexico. In her free time, she likes to explore the natural world, create art, and dive into books. She is proud to have raised three daughters who are now amazing young women and her favorite people to spend time with.
